A Night to Honor Israel by Christians United for Israel

"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch." Isaiah 62.1

CUFI's night to honor Israel was very moving, especially with the CUFI singers who presented us with stirring renditions of Hatikvah, Mayim Medley, Hinei Matov and Yerushalayim Shel Zahav.

Pastor John C. Hagee, CUFI founder and National Chairman, was clear: G-d gave Israel and all of Jerusalem to the Jews. God does not renege on a promise. Israel is not a colony of the US. Israel is the solution; not the problem. The US needs Israel and Israel needs the US.

A student leader; Ambassador Ron Dermer, David Brog and Senator Lindsey Graham spoke very eloquently and unapologetically about Evangelical and US support for Israel. For me, seeing how genuine the support for Israel is from Christians makes me extremely grateful.

However, there was much to be upset about. For the first time at CUFI, six people disrupted Dermer's speech (the only Israeli who spoke besides Netanyahu by video) with shouts: "Dermer, you are a war criminal". A video was shown documenting the terrible situation on college campuses, which affects both Christians and Jews who are now afraid to support Israel openly. One speaker, Gary Bauer, told people to donate to CUFI for programs to combat anti-Israel groups on college campuses, instead of donating to his organization.

The most moving speech, which brought me to tears, was by Dr. Miriam Adelson, who spoke because she and her husband, Sheldon, were honored by CUFI with "The Defender of Israel Award". She is Israeli and recounted the story of how her parents left Poland as teenagers to immigrate to Palestine. Most of her family were murdered by the Nazis. She expressed her admiration and appreciation for CUFI's work.

CUFI is under attack by Soros. Many young Evangelicals are no longer Zionists like their parents. You see, the 50 year long media war along with the professorships and campuses funded by Arab oil money have had an effect. The dangerous partnership of the far left and Islamists has the potential to destroy the close US/Israel relationship from which we benefit. If we do not act now, it may be too late. Antisemitism is increasing all over the world and especially on college campuses. You have to be brave to be a Zionist at many schools and synagogues today.

Please find a way to take action. Join one of the many pro-Israel organizations who are providing resources and leadership to wage a war. Our future leaders are the students of today. We are so lucky to live in a time in which the Jewish people have regained independence in our ancient homeland and have built a country everyone should be proud of. Without Israel, we are in danger both as Americans and as Jews.
