“There’s only one place on earth that makes Obama’s blood boil. It isn’t Iran or North Korea. It’s Israel”

The Little Jewish Village That Makes Obama Boil
by Daniel Greenfield
October 13, 2016

Halfway to the sky sits a tiny village of little white houses that has attracted the ire of the White House. The village of Amona with its small white houses and red roofs could easily be mistaken for some lost Italian village or a dusty California town. But the White House would not have “boiled in anger”, as one anonymous official claimed, over the doings of some Italian village…Amona’s small scattering of houses have a fraction of the square footage of the White House. The 40 families living there in defiance of Islamic terrorists and left-wing lawfarers would hardly be noticeable if they all crowded into the White House foyer. And yet they’ve been condemned by the State Department in more virulent tones than most Muslim dictators.READ MORE

United Nations continues efforts to erase connections between Jews and Jerusalem

U.S. lawmakers urge UNESCO not to rewrite Jerusalem’s history
by Ben Ariel
October 11, 2016

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are leading a bipartisan effort to stop the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from passing a resolution that would describe the Temple Mount and the Western Wall as holy Muslim sites, thus diminishing the historic and verified Jewish and Christian ties to the Old City of Jerusalem. Ros-Lehtinen, Cruz and 37 other lawmakers signed a letter to members of the Executive Board of UNESCO, urging them to vote against the resolution…[Ros-Lehtinen] “noted that the resolution’s “ill intent is unmistakable: to deny the historical record of the Jewish peoples’ connections to their holiest city and to imply that Jerusalem is inconsequential to Jews and Christians, with the intent of laying the groundwork for additional UN efforts to delegitimize Israel and undermine its status as the capital of the Jewish State.” READ MORE

“Negotiations alone seldom turn terrorists and tyrants into partners and allies”

The problem with peace processes
by Clifford D. May
October 12, 2016

…Within the European Union there is what might be called a faith-based belief in dialogue and soft power. The United States, as is so often the case, has been trending in the European direction. Notable examples include the 1994 “Agreed Framework” that, President Bill Clinton assured us, would prevent North Korea from acquiring nuclear weapons. North Korea’s most recent nuclear test — its fifth — occurred on Sept. 9. In 2009, Mr. Obama was confident that pushing a toy button would “reset” relations with Russia. A few months later, he dropped Bush administration plans to build a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe — much to the chagrin of America’s allies in the region. Five years later, Vladimir Putin’s forces invaded neighboring Ukraine and annexed Crimea. READ MORE

Atlantic’s new Editor in Chief Goldberg–who boosted his career at the expense of Israelis–posts rebuttal to his Netanyahu attack

The Unbearable Misunderstanding of Goldberg
by David Keyes
October 6, 2016

Jeffrey Goldberg’s article “The Unbearable Smallness of Netanyahu” blames Prime Minister Netanyahu for stymieing peace, paralyzing pessimism, alienating Americans, scapegoating Arabs, misplaying Iran and fetishizing fear. Big claims. None of them true. Implicit in Goldberg’s piece is the assumption that the Israeli people must be stupid or naive. Why else would they keep voting for someone Goldberg considers such a short-sighted fear-monger? READ MORE

Chicago Teachers Union decides “it is in their interest to restrict families’ choices and punish them if they are seeking charter-school education”

Chicago Restricts Charter Schools to Stop a Strike by Unionized Teachers
by Paul Crookston
October 12, 2016

The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) got the tentative deal they wanted Monday night and a strike has been averted, but hidden in the complex collective-bargaining negotiations is an unprecedented attack on school choice directly from the teachers’ union. What makes this deal unique is that it includes an item restricting any growth of charter schools in the whole district — both new schools from opening and existing schools from increasing current enrollment…This is about more than compensation: CTU is playing the long game. It can continue to exploit children through a closed market only if families have no other options. READ MORE
